Reflectix Insulation in Santa Ana, CA

Reflectix Insulation in Santa Ana, CA | Hearthside Insulation

We install and repair Reflectix radiant barrier and reflective insulation across Attic Insulation in Santa Ana, from the 1920s bungalows near downtown to mid-century ranches in the 92705 corridor. The work most Santa Ana homes actually need is foil at the roof deck, not bubble wrap in the walls. That’s where the heat lives here. Call (877) 265-4871 for a free estimate. As an independent contractor, we’re not affiliated with Reflectix, and that’s the point: we recommend foil only when it’s the right material for your roof geometry and attic setup.

Trevor Bassett, our owner, learned building science at Saddleback College before spending close to two decades on insulation jobs across Orange County. His take on Santa Ana attics is direct: many of them have never met a vapor barrier, and in July they act like kilns. We carry the full Reflectix sales & service knowledge set to handle that, from attic radiant barrier to duct wrap.

Why Santa Ana Residents Choose Us for Reflectix Service

Reflectix is one product line, not a religion. We stock it because it works when it’s applied where it belongs: under roof decking, on duct runs, and on garage doors that face afternoon sun. When it’s not the right call, we say so and reach for Rockwool, Owens Corning, or blown-in cellulose instead. Eight brands and three methods gives us room to be honest.

For Santa Ana specifically, that honesty matters. Homes here cook from the top down. The attic hits 150°F by mid-morning in August, and that heat pushes down through the ceiling into every room. A properly installed Reflectix radiant barrier can cut that attic temperature significantly, but only when the foil face stays clean and the vent gap is right. We get called out to fix plenty of jobs where neither happened.

Trevor grew up in Foothill Ranch and spent years hiking Whiting Ranch before he ever picked up a staple gun. He knows this basin’s heat patterns the way someone knows their own neighborhood. The right insulation doesn’t fight your climate, it works with it. That’s why we ask about your roof material, your attic vents, and which rooms bake in the afternoon before we quote a single roll.

Common Reflectix Insulation Problems We Solve in Santa Ana

  • Foil delamination from the bubble core. When attic temperatures spike past 160°F under Spanish tile, especially on the west-facing slopes of older homes, foil that was stapled directly to hot sheathing can peel away from its bubble core. The barrier then just hangs there, doing nothing. We find this constantly in 92703 and 92704 attics.
  • Perforation mismatch and condensation. Solid-core Reflectix installed over a vented attic traps moisture. On Santa Ana bungalows with original clay-tile battens, we’ve seen rusted staples and condensation drips on the underside of the tile because the wrong core was used. The fix is switching to perforated radiant barrier and re-stapling with proper vent clearance.
  • Staple-tear failure at uneven rafter spacing. Homes built in the 1940s often have inconsistent rafter centers. Reflectix rolls pulled tight across those uneven spans eventually tear at the staple points. The foil sags, rubs against debris, and the reflective surface grinds down. Re-tensioning on those old frames means working rafter by rafter, not pulling a roll flat and firing staples.
  • Reflectivity loss from dust and spider webbing. In unsealed older attics around 92703, dust settles on the foil face within a couple of seasons. The barrier looks installed but performs like matte paper. We clean what’s salvageable and recommend sealing the attic if it’s a total loss.
  • Bright foil behind blown-in insulation. Sometimes homeowners or previous contractors bury Reflectix under a foot of blown-in fiberglass. That kills the reflective surface entirely. The foil needs air space to work, period. We peel back what we can and reset the install properly.

Reflectix Service in Santa Ana: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

Here’s the thing that makes Santa Ana different from Orange or Reflectix service in Tustin or anywhere else with cooler marine air: the older core ZIPs, 92701, 92703, and 92704, are packed with dense single-wall stucco boxes on tight lots. No marine layer relief. When the sun hits those stucco walls, the whole house becomes a radiator, and the attic is the hottest layer. The highest-value Reflectix work in these homes is almost always at the roof deck, not on the walls or the garage door.

But roof-deck work under Spanish clay tile is not a one-day staple-up. The tile has to be lifted or the crew works from below through lath-and-plaster access points that were never designed for a grown adult with a staple gun. We’ve done that job on a 1948 single-wall stucco bungalow off Edinger Avenue in 92703: lifted original clay tile, stapled perforated Reflectix to the underside of the west-facing roof deck, kept a one-inch vent gap at the ridge. Attic peak dropped about 25°F the following week. The back bedroom stopped radiating heat after sunset. That’s what proper roof-deck radiant barrier does when the venting is respected.

No generic Reflectix page will tell you that Santa Ana’s tile-lift geometry makes it a two-trade job. But it does. And we’d rather say it before we start than after we’ve cracked your barrel tiles.

Reflectix Models & Products We Service in Santa Ana

We work with the Reflectix product lines that matter in this climate: Double Reflective Insulation Roll for duct and cavity work where a bubble core is appropriate, Reflective Foil Insulation for smaller radiant applications, Attic Radiant Barrier in both perforated and solid rolls, and their Duct Wrap and Garage Door Insulation kits. For Santa Ana specifically, we stock perforated Attic Radiant Barrier rolls and genuine Reflectix seam tape so attic work isn’t waiting on a shipping delay from the distributor.

On the parts side, we use genuine Reflectix rolls for radiant-barrier repairs. The foil-to-bubble bond and perforation pattern matter under clay tile; generic foil-faced bubble wrap delaminates faster in a 160° attic. If your existing Reflectix is only lightly dusted and intact, we clean and re-tension rather than replace. If the foil face is chalky or peeling away from the bubble, replacement is the only honest call. We’ll tell you which one you’re looking at and why.

Reflectix Service Pricing in Santa Ana

What we charge depends on the roof geometry, whether tile needs lifting, and how much of the existing barrier is salvageable. Radiant-barrier attic work in the older core ZIPs tends to run higher than a simple staple-up in an open attic because of the access work, but the energy savings in those unconditioned, stucco-walled homes also tend to be the most dramatic in Santa Ana.

A free estimate from us includes a look at your attic, a check of the existing venting, and a straight answer on whether Reflectix is even worth doing in your home. Sometimes the better answer is blown-in insulation and air sealing first, then foil on the deck if the numbers justify it. Call (877) 265-4871 and we’ll walk the attic with you or for you.
